Hi Dmitry and Happy New Year!
Wonder what makes you think Prof. Gross is one of the most qualified sources for these kind of predictions on the future of particle physics? Of course, I am not questioning his impressive record as a mentor. But my gut feeling is that the next revolution holds significant surprises for ALL of us. It seems to me that people like Prof. Gross belong to a school of thought that will be proven ineffective in the next decade of experimental findings. History has taught us that nobody can second guess Nature when it comes to an iminent paradigm shift.
Cheers,
Ervin
Dear Ervin,
I think he is Ok
As for the gut feeling, unfortunately, my gut feeling has failed me so many times in my life, and I have a gut feeling that I don’t have to believe to my gut feeling anymore
But let us hope you are right.
Cheers,
Dmitry.
I enjoyed looking at this review of the key-points of string theory. In relation with the fact that string theory is conservatively-radical modification of the principles of physics, are there other theories or models that have that property?
Hi Arjen,
I would say that string theory does not have any real competitors if that’s what you ask.
Cheers,
Dmitry.
