100. Little celebration
Uncategorized — By Dmitry Podolsky on November 17, 2008 at 4:39 pmHmm… as you may have noticed, this is… actually… the post number 100
I have no idea how did it happen, how I was managing to find staff to write about for so long
I remember, when I’ve just decided to start this thing, the first question I asked myself was – What all this will be about??? – and I spent quite a bit of time trying to find an answer convincing enough to move my lazy a….. err.. forward.
And you know what? The thing actually proved to be worthy and gave me a lot of fun (apart from Lubos Motl, Jacques Distler, Sabine Hossenfelder and the Bug Girl commenting on this blog as well as many of you, people, who prefer to stay anonimous
). In several months a blog about physics (!!!!) gets about 100 subscribers, and visits/readership reach 500 uniques per day. How could I ever expect that without being, say, ever reviewed by media? Many SEO/(how to become rich in 10 days) blogs do not deliver this performance in a year.
Well, anyway… I am again in the position to ask myself – what I am going to write about for the next 100 posts? At this moment I am going to disclose only one thing – I am planning to put everything I know about quark confinement on this blog. And this is just a top of the iceberg. Stay tuned. And if you did not subscribe to this blog by a chance, please, by all means, you are very welcome to either subscribe to my RSS feed or email newsletter (or both simultaneously :-E).
In the mean time I am taking vocation for today, and as nerdy vacation as possible – I am actually going to sit down and do some not so quick calculations
And please accept this cake as my gratitude for you being my reader for so long time

To get many regular readers on any subject you “just” have to have quality. And your blog has lots of it. Congratulations!
Thanks a lot! Your comment did give me a moment of satisfaction. Although I know – in reality the quality should be improved, and I assure you – that’s what I shall do.
Cheers,
I read your blog through the feed every(almost) evening, although this is the first time I am commenting. I hope you can keep up the energy and the quality. I have recommended it to few of my friends.
I have seen some good blogs disappear in the past, and my feeling is physics needs to have an answer to terry tao’s math blog. While Motl puts great stuff, he often digresses into things that I am agnostic about. Distler is good and his posts are ocassional and also his work is too formal for me.
Anyways, I wish you good luck!
Hi Savan
Thanks a lot for your kind words.
I’ll try to do my best.
Indeed, he is quite a role model, but I think not so many people will be happy with the equal level of formality would it be implemented here (according to your words probably you – first
).
Cheers,
Dmitry.
